A historic field. A stronger Future. Help bring it home.
Roller Nation Rises
The Steelton–Highspire community is coming together to transform a historic stadium into something more: a place for competition, connection, and opportunity. We’re building more than a field. We’re building a future.
The Opportunity
About the Project
The Steelton–Highspire Community Revitalization Project is a bold, community-driven effort to restore a historic stadium and create a year-round hub for education, wellness, and opportunity.
Today, the reality is clear: the field is no longer playable—leaving students and local kids without a safe, reliable place to practice, compete, or simply play.
This is about more than athletics. It’s about restoring access, rebuilding pride, and creating opportunity.
We want to bring this space back to life—so students, families, and the community once again have a place to gather, grow, connect, and thrive.
Our Vision & Mission
Our Vision
To transform the stadium into a legacy hub that empowers youth, promotes family wellness, and builds pathways to economic mobility.
Our Mission
To empower all students to reach their full potential by providing a high-quality, inclusive education in a safe and nurturing environment.
Why This Matters
For generations, this field has been a source of pride. But today, it no longer meets the needs of the students or the community—it’s unplayable, and there is no adequate field for kids to use.
This project ensures:
- Safe, modern facilities for student-athletes
- A reliable space for youth sports and recreation
- A shared place for community programs
- Opportunities for education, health, and career development
The Bigger Picture
The stadium is just the beginning.
This revitalization effort will expand into a Community Education, Career, Health & Wellness Hub—serving Steelton–Highspire year-round and giving future generations a place they can count on.

Phase One
Building the Foundation
We’re starting with what matters most. Creating a safe, high-quality home field for students and the community. Today, the field is unplayable. Phase One changes that.
What Phase One Includes
- Replacement of the outdated field with a new synthetic turf surface
- Upgraded stadium lighting system for safe evening use
- Installation of comprehensive stormwater management infrastructure, including inlet/outlet systems and subsurface drainage
- Reconfiguration of the field layout to accommodate a six-lane, PIAA-compliant track
Why Phase One Matters
This phase restores what’s currently missing—a safe, reliable place for students and kids in the community to play, practice, and compete.
It lays the groundwork for everything that follows, bringing immediate impact while setting the stage for long-term transformation.
What Comes Next
Phase One is just the beginning.
Phase Two will focus on rebuilding the stadium experience, including:
- Demolition and replacement of the historic 1918 bleachers
- New ADA-accessible grandstands
- Construction of a press box, classrooms, kitchen, and public restrooms
Phase Three will expand the complex into something even greater:
- A Career, Education & Wellness Center within the stadium complex
- Year-round programming that supports student growth, family wellness, and workforce development
Together, these phases will transform the site into a true community hub—serving Steelton–Highspire far beyond game day.

“As Superintendent, I am proud to stand alongside our educators, families, and community leaders in advancing this transformational vision for Steelton-Highspire.
This plan is not just about facilities—it’s about creating equitable access, supporting the whole child, and preparing our students for real-world success. We are building more than a stadium.
We are building futures. By investing in academic enrichment, workforce readiness, wellness, and community empowerment, we are ensuring that every student has the tools to thrive in school and in life. This is a defining moment for our district—and a chance to turn vision into legacy.”
Willie Slade

Steelton-Highspire School District
“As an alum and Athletic Director of Steelton-Highspire, I’ve seen how athletics shape our students into leaders. Our legacy includes state titles, college scholarships, and alumni reaching the NFL and beyond. But our facilities no longer reflect that legacy.
This project is more than a stadium upgrade—it’s about restoring pride, building opportunity, and preparing our youth for life beyond the field. The new complex will serve not only athletes, but the entire community. Now is the time to invest in our future and preserve the tradition that makes Steel-High special.”
Andrew Erby Sr.
Athletic Director & Football Coach
Steelton-Highspire School District
“Cottage Hill was my field of dreams. I learned everything I needed to learn up there. This project is about waking up all those ghosts on Cottage Hill. This is about legacy. It’s about leaving an imprint in this community that will last for a lifetime. Steelton people —we’re prideful. That Roller pride is what takes us through everything. All we need is a chance. And we’ve got a chance to do something special.”
